About Los Patitos Daycare
Los Patitos Daycare is bilingual (English/Spanish) and is run by an ECE with over 18 years of experience. We offer developmentally appropriate activities and we strive to enhance intellectual, social, physical and emotional growth. Our program fosters creativity, curiosity and self-esteem by taking into consideration that each child has his/her own interests and develops at his/her own pace. To maintain an atmosphere where children feel comfortable and confident, we use constructive guidance and positive reinforcement. We encourage cooperation, sharing and respect for one another. Child-initiated and caregiver-supported play is an essential component of our program. We feel it is important to follow the childrens' interests and encourage them accordingly when it comes to free play time.

We have a structured daily routine that includes:

Indoor free play (e.g. arts and crafts, puzzles, baking)

Outdoor free play (e.g. outdoor walk, playground visit, backyard free play, gardening)

Circle time (e.g. story time, show and tell, music and movement)

Quiet book time (sometimes at the VPL)

Meal and snack times

Nap time(s)
Within these times we keep the activities flexible depending on the weather and the general interests of the group.
Los Patitos Daycare nurtures curiosity by incorporating topics of Science and Math at an early age. Without pressuring the child, we teach the basics of numeracy and literacy using fun games. We introduce different animals and their life cycles, preferably backyard creatures that they can observe up close, and the importance of taking care of these animals and our Earth as a whole. Our circle time and indoor/outdoor play times are often based on these changing themes. We teach how to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle," and incorporate these concepts into our daily routine. The majority of our arts and crafts supplies, for example, are recyled materials.
